Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma took the field for the first time since getting ruled out for the upcoming tour of Australia. That Rohit Sharma got ruled out of the visit from all three squads due to the hamstring and the 33-year old opting to play, left people stumped and sparked a debate. Concerning this, former chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar wishes to know what action will BCCI take here.

Rohit Sharma suffered a left hamstring injury during the game against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai. Since then, Kieron Pollard captained the side and lifted the team to the playoffs. On Tuesday against the SunRisers Hyderabad in Sharjah, the right-handed batsman returned to the playing eleven and cited that his hamstring is “absolutely fine”. Nevertheless, he was not able to make an impact, perishing for two with the bat as the defending champions slid to ten-wicket loss.

Debates had sparked all over social media whether cricketers think the club is more essential or country. Team India’s physio Nitin Patel was left surprised since an accomplished batsman like Rohit Sharma, who got declared unfit for the tour down under, is playing an IPL match.

Dilip Vengsarkar puts up a bunch of questions about Rohit Sharma’s fitness:

Former Indian batsman Dilip Vengsarkar questioned Rohit Sharma’s preference as to whether it is India or the club and if the BCCI will take action on the same. On the other hand, Vengsarkar also had doubts about whether BCCI’s physio diagnosed Rohit’s injury correctly.

Now the question is, is the IPL more important to him than playing for India? Is the club more important than playing for the nation for him? Will the BCCI take a call on this? Or is it that the BCCI physio faltered in diagnosing Rohit’s injury correctly?” Vengsarkar told Times of India.
