Don’t Know How My Name Reached BPL’s Draft List- Chris Gayle

Whenever West Indies players visit India, there has always been a sense of excitement for the fans, as they play top-class cricket when it comes to limited-overs format. However, this time, a section of the cricketing fanatics were hurt with the latest statement from Chris Gayle, which confirmed that he would not be there for West Indies in the ODI series against India.

The ‘Universe Boss’ is also not going to play in the upcoming edition of Big Bash League in Australia. Further, he is surprised to see his name in the Bangladesh Premier League draft, as he never gave them the green signal to play in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

I am not going to play in ODI’s against India – Chris Gayle

The West Indies Cricket Board had asked Chris Gayle to feature in the ODI series against India. However, Chris Gayle denied the request, as he made himself unavailable for the rest of the season in 2019.

“West Indies called me to play ODIs, but I am not going to play,” Gayle said according to ESPNcricinfo. “They (selectors) want me to play with the youngsters, but for this year I am going to take a break. I am not going to the Big Bash. I’m not sure what cricket will come up, I don’t even know how my name reached the BPL (Bangladesh league), but I have been drafted in a team and I don’t even know how that happened,” he added.

People won’t remember what you have done

Following the information over his participation against India, Chris Gayle also slammed his critics for pointing out his poor show in the recent past. He quoted that there are certain people in the franchise cricket, who forget your past performances for the team before highlighting the latest vows. Chris Gayle added that he couldn’t play where he won’t get his respect.

“As soon as I don’t perform for two or three games, then Chris Gayle is the burden for the team. I am not talking for this team only. This is something I have analysed over the years playing franchise cricket. Chris Gayle is always a burden if I don’t score runs, two, three, four times. It seems like that one particular individual is the burden for the team. And then you will hear bickering. I am not going to get respect. People don’t remember what you have done for them. I don’t get respect,” he added.

Gayle played six games in Mzansi Super League for the Stars and failed to propel them to win in any of those. His batting performance was equally unimpressive. In the first five matches, he managed just 47 runs before scoring a much-needed half-century in his final game for the Stars against Tshwane Spartans. But it was not enough as they lost that game too.

I just love what I script. Over the years, Cricket has been my passion and crisping articles on it gives me an immense pleasure...Cheers...!!!
