England batswoman Danielle Wyatt expressed delight over an inclusion of Rishabh Pant in the Indian Test squad. Pant was able to break into the Test side as a backup wicketkeeper to Dinesh Karthik. Thus, making his maiden call-up in the longer format.

It was least expected that Rishabh Pant will be included in the Test team. In fact, everyone was expecting that senior campaigner Gujarat-based Parthiv Patel will get his opportunity.

Pant is currently playing for India A side in the United Kingdom (UK). Therefore, Pant’s exposure to the English conditions will help him. The left-hander scored 58 in the first innings of the ongoing unofficial four-day match against England Lions.

The Delhi-based batsman Pant had also scored a quickfire 67 off just 71 balls in the second unofficial Test match against Windies A – to help take India over the line comfortably by five wickets.

Eventually, the selectors have rewarded the youngster for his good run of form in the England conditions. Pant had also scored 158 runs in the tri-series against England Lions and Windies A.

Therefore, the combative southpaw batsman Pant will look to grab his opportunity with both hands if he is given his chance in the playing XI.

Furthermore, the left-hander had a fine Indian Premier League (IPL) season for the Delhi Daredevils. In fact, he was the second highest run-getter with 684 runs in the 14 innings. He scored five fifties and one century in the dream season he had in the tournament.

Pant always started his innings in the top gear. The explosive batsman was able to hit the ground running with his performances for the Daredevils.

Danielle commented on the post of Rahul Sharma.

Cricket is my first love. I want to be a wordsmith. I want to weave magic with my words.
