India vice-captain Rohit Sharma, on Wednesday (June 11), gave a huge injury update on fast-bowling spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

India did exceedingly well in the Twenty20 Internationals against England, winning the three-match series 2-1.

While barring the second game, the Men in Blue thoroughly dominated the series. It would be safe to say that the series was a cakewalk for Virat Kohli and his men. But the Indian team is certainly going to face a stiffer challenge in the upcoming three-match One-day International series.

England are currently the top-ranked ODI side in the world. And the way they blew away Australia in their last ODI assignment, one can expect them to give India a run for their money.

With their batsmen in red-hot form, the Indian bowlers will have their task cut out. However, the absence of ace pacer and death-bowling specialist Jasprit Bumrah due to injury has made things further tough for visitors.

And the Indian team suffered yet another blow when their pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar missed the third T20I owing to a stiff back.

Bhuvneshwar was replaced by Siddarth Kaul. India managed to win the high-scoring thriller but there is no denying that they missed the experienced bowler.

There were apprehensions that he might miss the first ODI too. However, Rohit has given a promising update on Bhuvneshwar Kumar, saying that he expected the pacer to be fit in time for the series-opener at the Trent Bridge.

“Bhuvi has obviously come here to train and he’s going to see how the net session goes for him. He’s going to try and bowl and see how he feels. Obviously, the physio and the captain will take the call later once he finishes his training sessions but he looks fine to me as of now. So hopefully he will be ready to take the field tomorrow,” Rohit told the media on the eve of the series-opener.

The three-match ODI series will get underway on July 12 in Nottingham. It’s the same venue where England blasted 481 for six against Australia in their last series.
