Team India skipper Virat Kohli returned to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Test Rankings for batsmen after his scores of 97 and 103 in the Trent Bridge Test against England.

Meanwhile, his knock helped India secure a 203-run win against England to bounce back in the five-match Test series. They took just 17 balls on day five to get the final wicket of James Anderson as he gloved one off Ravichandran Ashwin to Ajinkya Rahane.

England finished their second innings on 317 after Jos Buttler’s maiden Test century provided some joy in otherwise a poor batting display from the hosts. The Indian seamers put up a brilliant efforts bagging 19 out of the 20 wickets that fell.

Virat Kohli’s feats took him to 937 rating points – the highest he’s reached so far. This helped him crawl back atop Steve Smith in the charts. Kohli had reached the No.1 spot after totaling 200 runs in the first Test at Edgbaston. However, scores of 23 and 17 at Lord’s meant he slipped back down.

The talismanic India skipper broke array of records during his knocks at Trent Bridge. With two Tests still to play, he is in line to break Sunil Gavaskar‘s record of most runs in a bilateral series.

Hardik Pandya, who impressed significantly at Trent Bridge was also among the notable gainers. He sits at 17th spot in the list of all-rounders and also while in the 51st spot in both bowlers and batsmen’s chart.
