ENG vs IND 2018: Twitter Reacts As Bowlers Put England In Driver's Seat
Updated - 11 Aug 2018, 01:55 AM
Indian batsmen’s struggle in overseas continued as England grabbed the honours on day two of the second England vs India Test at Lord’s. Virat Kohli & Co. could score only 107 before the stump was called.
Asked to bat first, India were off to a disastrous start. Under overseas conditions, James Anderson gave the hosts a torrid time before rain arrived as a respite. In the very first over of the game, Anderson castled Murali Vijay for a duck with an absolute gem of an out-swinger.
KL Rahul and Virat Kohli found the going tough and managed to see off a few overs. However, before the duo could bat India to a good position, Anderson struck again. He forced Rahul to edge one behind the stumps, thus reducing India to 10 for 2 in the seventh over.
And even before India could recover from the twin setbacks, they suffered another huge setback. A disastrous misunderstanding led to Cheteshwar Pujara’s run-out as India found themselves three down for just 15. The rain then brought some-much-needed respite for India. The rain washed out most of the day before the action resumed in the third session.
Kohli was then joined by Ajinkya Rahane in the middle. The duo stopped the rot for a while before Chris Woakes put England firmly on top. He ended the 34-run stand between Kohli and Rahane by dismissing the former for 23 to leave India reeling at 49 for 4. Half of the Indian team was back in the hut for only 61 after Woakes struck again to remove Pandya.
1 run later, Sam Curran made his mark by castling Dinesh Karthik for 1. The wickets kept on falling at regular intervals. By the time, the team crossed the 100-run mark, they were nine down. The team was eventually all out for just 107.
Anderson starred with the ball, picking up 5 for just 20. For India, R Ashwin top-scored with 29.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the game:
Superb bowling by Jimmy Anderson. Difficult conditions for batting too, but India's capitulation betrays lack of technique as well as heart

What a massive advantage winning this toss has been for England. But wasn’t meant to unfold like this for India.. Come on team, some fight somewhere !!

Young Rishabh Pant has moved a step closer to making his Test debut methinks. If not because Karthik's flopping, top order uninspiring too

Life has been so unfair for Pujara today. Came out when batting looked impossible, got run out because of skipper's error in judgement and now when there is bright sunshine, he is sitting in dressing room. #ENGvIND

Disastrous for India as yet. Rain has provided relief from agony. Pujara's wicket was a gift & Kohli wont be happy with his own role in it

Kohli should give Pujara the rest of this series to make up for this run out. #EngvInd

Virat Kohli is involved in 5 run outs in Tests. He himself has been out only once, his partner was out on 4 occasions. #EngvInd
