Team India skipper Virat Kohli has already done some exceptional stuff in international cricket. The India captain has been in the form of his life across all three formats of the game and has kept his shape in the international radar on a consistent basis.

Jason Roy says England not afraid of Virat Kohli

It was a lone battle by Virat Kohli which helped India run England very close in the 1st Test at Edgbaston. However, the England opener in the limited-overs format, Jason Roy said they are not afraid of Virat Kohli and his exploits.

Virat Kohli smashed a brilliant 149 in the first innings of the previous Test. His innings was one of the main reasons that India came within just 13 runs of the English 1st innings total. Kohli waged a lone battle even in the 2nd innings. Chasing a target of 193 runs, Kohli made 51 and kept India in the game till he was there.

However, his dismissal helped England stamp their authority on the visitors on the game. Eventually, they returned winners by 31 runs.

Jason Roy was part of a group discussion which included ICC executive Dave Richardson, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar.

Mark Nicholas asked Jason Roy whether they were scared of Kohli. He stated that England are not scared of Kohli, but he is indeed an imposing batsman.

“Not scared of him, no. He’s obviously a great player, and rightly so, you’ve given him such kind words,” said the England opener. “He’s an extremely good athlete, an imposing batsman, an imposing figure on the field. We’ve got to find ways of dismantling him somehow, so we can’t give him too much praise right here,” Roy said.

After a narrow defeat in the opening test, India will look to make a strong comeback in Lord’s which was the venue for their only win in England in 2014.

Despite the victory, India has a lot of positives to take on. However, the batters need to step up to the plate and start performing. A Virat Kohli cannot win you matches daily.
