Time changes pretty quickly; it was proved again by India’s lethal youngster, Hardik Pandya. From the past few weeks, the Hardik Pandya was the chief receiver of criticism. Now, he turned all the stones to flowers with his magical performances at Trentbridge. Meanwhile, Michael Holding received flak from the Indians over his comments on Hardik Pandya.

Earlier, after the dismal show from Pandya in the first two Tests, the former great Michael Holding wasn’t impressed with the all-rounder. Holding added he couldn’t see next Kapil Dev in Hardik Pandya.

Michael Holding questioned Hardik Pandya’s selection:

Recently, when Cheteshwar Pujara got dropped from the Edgbaston Test, Michael Holding called it a poor choice.

He felt that Hardik Pandya could got overlooked instead of Pujara. Holding quoted that Hardik hasn’t shown enough to call him the next Kapil Dev.

Meanwhile, speaking after the stumps on day two, Pandya hit back at the critics with his stern response. He quoted it was their job to criticise, but he wants his side to be happy with his performance.

“It seems as if he’s the golden boy in this team. Everyone thinks he’s going to be the next Kapil Dev. He hasn’t shown that yet. Why not pick a batsman? Pandya got a few runs in the second innings but is he a better batsman than Pujara? I don’t think so, and you don’t need him as a bowler in my eyes,” Holding said recently.

“Heard a mention when I was working in South Africa – ‘he is the next Kapil Dev’. I ain’t going to tell anybody he’s not going to be the next Kapil Dev, but he is nowhere near there yet. And they need to find someone who can contribute a lot more to this team right now,” Holding said

Hardik Pandya achieved a unique feat as an Indian:

Hardik Pandya finished with figures of 5/28.

The maiden five-for by Hardik Pandya had dug out numerous records. Picking out the different stat of all, he became the only India fast bowler to pick five wickets after bowling as a third change or more.

Meanwhile, the performance by the Baroda all-rounder at Trent Bridge gave enough words for the fans to give it back to Michael Holding. All of them are after Michael Holding, trolling him for the words on Hardik Pandya earlier.
