Allrounder David Willey is reportedly the bowler who would make way for Jofra archer in England’s final World Cup squad. England had not named Archer in the preliminary squad although he was eligible for selection. Instead, the World Cup hosts named Archer in the ODI squad for the games against Ireland and Pakistan. With Archer making transition to international cricket seamlessly and also impressing, England have finally decided to include him in their squad in order to brighten up their chances of winning the competition.

In other two changes, Liam Dawson has been called at the expense of Joe Denly while James Vince has also been named as a straight swap for Alex Hales, according to ESPNcricinfo. Hales lost his place in the World Cup squad after failing two tests for recreational drugs. Dawson, on the other hand, has not played an ODI since the tour of Sri Lanka prior to Christmas. A side strain suffered on that trip opened the door for Denly and he impressed straightaway with a four-wicket haul in a one-off T20I.

Denly, however, failed to make a mark during the Ireland and Pakistan series. He bowled just 11 overs in three matches and picked up a solitary wicket. With the bat, he scored 17 and 21 and thus had to lose his spot in the World Cup squad. On the other hand, Dawson has impressed for Hampshire in this season’s Royal London Cup. He has claimed 18 wickets at 20.33 en route to the final in addition to scoring 274 runs at 45.66, including a century against Middlesex at The Oval.

But Willey will feel hard done by after making way for Archer. The left-arm pacer recently made his mark with his death bowling in the high-scoring Trent Bridge against Pakistan. He, however, failed to make a mark after that. In the Bristol ODI, he conceded 86 runs while the likes of Chris Woakes and Tom Curran grabbed their opportunities with both hands.

This is how England’s final World Cup squad is likely to look:

Eoin Morgan (capt), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Jos Buttler, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, James Vince, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
