England vs India 2018, 2nd Test, Lord’s, Day 2 – Live Update
After a full washout on day one of the second of the five-match Test series between India and England at Lord’s, both teams will want the game to start on day two at the mecca of cricket.
Meanwhile, the onus will be on India, as they lag behind 1-0 following their Edgbaston loss. The hosts held their nerves to win the Test on day four at Birmingham. As a result, they will be high on confidence going into this game.
However, India won its last outing at Lord’s in 2014 and will look to repeat the memories. Virat Kohli & Co were not too behind in the first Test, as the game swing from one side to another.
The batsmen from both sides need to come good who failed to perform in the opening encounter, barring a few. Notably, Indian batsmen need to fire with only Virat Kohli doing the bulk of the scoring in the first Test.
The India captain scored 200 out of the 436 runs that India amassed during the match.
For England, Alastair Cook will be desperate to score runs, who got out on two identical deliveries from Ravichandran Ashwin.
The 20-year-old Ollie Pope, who comes in place of Dawid Malan will also look to continue his domestic run. Malan, who was going through a lean fell out of favour, but selector Ed Smith reassured him of coming back.
30 minutes extended on day two
Following a complete washout, the umpires have decided to extend the second day’s play by 30 minutes. However, the game will commence on it’s scheduled time with toss taking place at 3:00 pm (IST).
Considering the overcast conditions, England and India both will like to field first after winning the toss. The morning session will be a two-hour long session with lunch at 5:30 pm (IST). Furthermore, the session post will be of 2hrs 15mins long with tea happening at 8:25 pm (IST).
The day will culminate at 11:00 pm (IST) after a 2hr 15mins long session post tea.
