India all-rounder Hardik Pandya‘s five-wicket haul have ensured a massive lead for India on day two of the third Test against England at Trent Bridge. Here we are with the statistical highlights.

Meanwhile, English fast bowlers cleaned up the Indian tail in no time to bundle out for 329. Rishabh Pant, who looked confident on the opening day departed cheaply playing a rash shot off Stuart Broad.

The hosts got off to a good start putting 54 runs for the first wicket before Alastair Cook departed. Since then it was a rollercoaster ride for England and Pandya ran through the English batting. However, it was the little cameo from Jos Buttler that reduced the lead for India. He added 39 runs off just 32 balls to guide his side cross the 150-run mark.

Much to everybody’s surprise, Virat Kohli took a defensive call not to make England follow on. However, the openers once again provided India with a good start adding fifty runs, second time in this match. Both Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul looked in great touch taking the attack to the opposition.

But both the openers failed to utilise the excellent start as they Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara ended the day at 124 for 2.

Here are the statistical highlights of day two of the third Test between England and India at Trent Bridge:

  • Hardik Pandya (29) now has the second quickest five-wicket haul in terms of the number of balls bowled by an Indian outside India. Harbhajan Singh tops the chart as he took 27 deliveries to complete his fifer against Windies in 2006 at Kingston.

  • Hardik Pandya (29) is also the second wickets to take a five-wicket haul at Trent Bridge. England’s Stuart Broad leads the chart claiming a fifer in just 15 deliveries.

  • India now have taken the first innings lead in three of their last 4 Tests at Trent Bridge.

  • Rishabh Pant is now the first Asian wicket-keeper to claim five catches in an innings on Test debut.
