India extends its dominance on day three of the Trent Bridge Test against England. It seems that only a miraculous performance can save the hosts from an embarrassing defeat now. India wrapped up the first session of the third day on a positive note. The India skipper, Virat Kohli along with Cheteshwar Pujara ensured there would not be any early heartbreaks.

The two frontline seamers of England bowled consistently in the same channel. However, the slip region ruined their figures. Apart from deep sighs, slip fielders could not respond in any different communication.

It feels England management is serving a lot of butter to their players. Jos Buttler shared the similar story, like that of the previous match, as he spoiled a chance to get Pujara out. It was not the first drop, as Alastair Cook dropped a sitter earlier in the inning as well.

The fifties from Virat Kohli and Chetheshwar Pujara.

After an nth outing, finally, a fifty came from the bat of Chetheshwar Pujara. The two stalwarts achieved their fifties before the lunch procession intervened in India’s lead. The duo added a partnership of 113-run for the third wicket.

First breakthrough of the day

England finally managed to get a breakthrough. It was Ben Stokes who got a wicket on a back of a length delivery. The ball kissed the bat of Pujara before looping up towards Alastair Cook at the first slip.

There was no mistake from Alastair Cook this time, as Chetheshwar Pujara wasted a golden chance to slam a century. He scored an excellent knock of 72 that included nine fours.

Extension of lead over 400

In the meantime, the glorious fifties from two stalwarts helped India to stretch its lead over 400 runs. England will get a moral victory, as they managed to take a wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara and stopped from slamming a ton.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane joined the crease along with Virat Kohli who is a typical day at the office. India will be expecting a quickfire knock from Rahane to give ample time to its bowlers.
