Team India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has hit the gym to following his injury woes and is concurrently undergoing the rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after returning from England, last month.

Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar was a part of the One-day International series decider at Headingley in Leeds which aggravated his lower-back injury. As a result, the selector left him out of the first three Test of the five-match Test series against England.

Bhuvneshwar struggled with his back for the last few months and missed a few matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). After the Test at Lord’s, he came back to NCA, with the medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to monitor his rehab.

The selectors, however, are taking a close look at Bhuvneshwar before announcing the squad for the last two Tests. The India selectors are likely to sit after the third Test to announce the team.

Moreover, Bhuvneshwar would be short of match practice, something the selectors have been keen on before recalling a player in recent times.

However, the bowlers have done a fair job in the absence of Bhuvneshwar and Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have bowled well; however, it is the batsmen who have struggled.
