Shikhar Dhawan, probably, the only player who has always been the scapegoat whenever Team India underperforms. He was given a chance in the first Test of the series at Edgbaston but subsequently missed out in the second Test at Lord’s.

The Delhi lad fared pretty poorly so far in the series despite getting the considerable starts. However, he has been given yet another chance in the third Test and retained his spot in Southampton Test as well.

We felt good winning in such a dominant way – Shikhar Dhawan

Speaking ahead of the fourth Test at Southampton, Shikhar Dhawan quoted that the team is in a positive frame of mind especially, after winning the game at Trent Bridge. He calls the victory as a special feeling for winning dominantly.

Meanwhile, he spoke on his performance for the team. Dhawan added that he is not worried about his performance but trying to make it count whenever he gets chance to open for the team.

“We felt really good winning in such a dominant way especially after the first two losses. And showed good character and learned from our mistakes. We have a good chance to come back in this series, so we have to come up with the same routines,” Dhawan said.

“We need to stick to the process once you know the conditions. [Team] have to be patient to get success,”

England Vs India 2018: I have backed my plan – Shikhar Dhawan

After having a horrible start in the first Test, Dhawan got decent starts in the third Test at Trent Bridge. Speaking of the same, Dhawan highlighted his mental strength in getting back to his own.

”I’ve backed my plan and I’ve learned the ball swings quite late here. I’ve analysed myself and realise I can’t play too short. I didn’t do well in the first game, but my mental strength was very strong and I saw they were very patient with their line and length. So I had to be strong,” Shikhar inferred.

However, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Dhawan in Southampton against England.
