Owing to the tea report, earlier Team India again had a shared opening session on the second day of the fourth Test at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. They had gone to lunch with the score reading 100 for two. England returned back as India post 181 for five at tea.

The visitors had lost the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul. Both the wickets were taken by Stuart Broad. He bowled well and moved the ball just enough to draw out the two wickets.

However, captain Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara batted sensibly to go to lunch without the any further damage. Runs came quickly at the beginning of the second session as India tried to get into a commanding position.

Kohli struck some gorgeous shot during his knock of 46. He was approaching toward yet another well-deserved half-century. However, youngster, Sam Curran deceived him in the drive with delivery outside the off stump.

England staged a comeback in the 2nd session:

He went for a flash and gave a catch to Alastair Cook, who accepted it without any problem. Cook hasn’t caught well in the series so far.

Hence it was a good effort. Ajinkya Rahane came in the middle at the fall of Kohli’s wicket. Pujara, on the other hand, looked in complete control of proceedings. Rahane played a couple of streaky shots to get going.

However, he was plumb in front by a spectacular inswinging delivery from Ben Stokes. He was introduced into the attack quite late. He might be nursing an injury. Hence he came into the attack later.

However, he looked lethal straightaway. He troubled the Indian batters quite consistently with his gentle swinging deliveries.

Currently, Cheteshwar Pujara is at the crease. The wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant didn’t get off to a mark and was dismissed on the final delivery before tea. Moeen Ali dismissed him. He played 26 deliveries but didn’t get off to the target.
