England vs West Indies 2020: Jofra Archer Returns As Hosts Announce Squad For Third Test

England have recalled fast-bowler Jofra Archer in their 14-member squad for the third and final Test against West Indies at Old Trafford. Along with Archer, James Anderson and Mark Wood have returned to the squad too for the series-decider which gets underway on Friday (July 24).

All the three pacers were not a part of England’s impressive 113-run win over the tourists in the second Test. Bouncing back from the shock defeat in the first Test, England came up with a fine all round performance to beat West Indies and level the three-match series. England had lost the series-opener by four wickets in Southampton.

Archer missed the tie after he was excluded following a breach of bio-secure protocol for which he has been fined and received a written warning. On the other hand, Anderson and Wood were rested for the game.

Archer, Anderson and Wood will compete with Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran – England’s pace attack in the second Test – for spots as the hosts aim to regain the Wisden Trophy. With Broad, Woakes and Curran doing well in the game, it would be interesting to see England’s bowling lineup for the third Test.

As far as the batting lineup is concerned, England have decided against changing it. Jos Buttler has also retained his spot as the wicketkeeper-batsman in the team despite his poor returns in the series so far.

England’s squad for the third Test:

Joe Root (captain), James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Dominic Bess, Stuart Broad, Rory Burns, Jos Buttler (wk), Zak Crawley , Sam Curran, Ollie Pope, Dom Sibley, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
