While few of England’s players still sweat over their place in the World Cup squad due to the arrival of ‘qualified’ Jofra Archer, this isn’t the case with Chris Woakes.

The all-rounder seems to have his seat fixed for the tournament, especially after skipper Eoin Morgan heaping praises on him.

The 32-year-old batsman, who will be leading England at World Cup for the second time, talked about Woakes at World Cup trophy event and said that he has been best bowler for England in first 10 overs.

“He’ll be extremely important. He’s been the best bowler in the world in the first ten overs for the past two years in international cricket and he goes about his business very quietly and very effectively. He’s exceptional, and a very important part of our team,” Morgan said.

Woakes has had some time rough time in past couple of years due to injuries but has been able to maintain the top spot in England’s line-up.

He also has the backing of captain now and is set to play the World Cup at home.

Woakes was also a part of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 that was played in England but was ruled out right in the first match due to a side strain.

There are quite a few England’s players who will be on their toes during the series against Pakistan.

Certain players have also expressed their views on Jofra Archer but the Caribbean all-rounder could still get a look in.

He has not been named in the World Cup squad but will get his opportunity against Pakistan.

Archer is a part of the squad for the series and should he come up with impressive performances, he can be called in the World Cup squad.

A team can make changes to the squad before May 23 without permission from ICC.

Beyond that, a team will need to go through complete procedure to get a player replaced in the squad.

Archer plays for Sussex in domestic cricket.

Though he hasn’t played for England Lions or any of England’s junior side.

Later this week, it will be the first time when he will be joining England’s camp.

If selected in the World Cup squad, he will be the other fast bowling all-rounder in England line-up, along with Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes.
