Former legendary West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards expects the Windies to give a tough competition to the Indian team. India and West Indies are all set to play three T20Is, as many ODIs and two Test matches against each other. Richards stated that he expects an even contest between the two sides in the upcoming series.

“India-West Indies series have always seen explosive action and I don’t expect anything less this time around. With the current form of the West Indies team, I look forward to them giving a tough competition to the Indian side,” Richards was quoted as saying in a media release issued by official broadcasters Sony Pictures Sports Network.

“West Indies will always hold a very special place in my heart since I started my career over there and have immense respect for their players,” said Gavaskar.

The first T20I between the two sides will take place in Florida on 3rd August. Meanwhile, India was knocked out of the World Cup in the semifinal as they lost to New Zealand by 18 runs. On the other hand, West Indies could only win two matches in the World Cup. The Windies had a good start against Pakistan in the first match but they could not carry on the same impetus in the later matches.
