Extension Chances Ample for Ravi Shastri and Team India’s Support Staff Ahead of the 2019 World Cup

With the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) all set to discuss some significant topics on Monday (March 18). The body is also likely to discuss an extension of Ravi Shastri and Team India’s support staff ahead of the 2019 World Cup. The ODI showpiece will kick-off on May 30 in Kennington Oval in London. The body is keen to take a decision according to the reports carried by Bangalore Mirror.

It’s understood that decision will be taken while taking the future into consideration in a bid to tackle any untoward situation after facing trouble during the 2015 World Cup.

The Body overseeing the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will shed light on the WADA and NADA apart from the distinct issues cropping up in the lead up to the quadrennial event.

However, it’s expected that extension of the Shastri and support staff will remain as the primary focus for the chief of CoA Vinod Rai alongside Diana Edulji.

The BCCI has appointed Shastri as a chief coach in July 2017 following the resignation from Anil Kumble.

It’s important to point out that Shastri, alongside bowling coach Bharat Arun, Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar’s contracts will expire after the culmination of the twelfth edition of World Cup in July, this year.

According to the recent developments, the coaches could get an extension until 2020 Twenty20 World Cup Scheduled in Australia.

Earlier, the CoA had a meeting with coaching staff following the completion five-match ODI series decider between India and Australia in Delhi.

In addition, Mirror revealed Shastri had communicated with the administration including the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri. Apart from it, Shastri has laid out a plan for Team India until the 2020 World Twenty20.

While considering the coaching role, they have done a remarkable job throughout these years. Also, the recent loss in the white-ball home series won’t deter the Men in Blue’s overall performance.

Under the dynamic leadership of Virat Kohli, the team went on to script history in Australia. Besides, they rout New Zealand 4-1 in the five-match series.

Concurrently, India has dominated the Test fold. Also, the team is sitting second on the list of ODI and T20I ICC Rankings respectively.

Team India players will participate in the impending Indian Premier League (IPL). However, they will rejoin the team to set sights on winning the marquee event in the United Kingdom (UK).

India will begin its World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5 in Southampton.
