David Warner’s decision to step into the commentary box has not gone down well with some cricketing fans. Barely a couple of months after the disgraceful ball-tampering scandal, the tainted Australian batsman commentated from a studio in Sydney as Australia took on England in the second One Day International in Cardiff on Saturday night.

The left-handed batsman along with Steven Smith and Cameron Bancroft has not played in competitive cricket since the scandal in the third Test against South Africa in March, this year.

In the aftermath of the scandal, Cricket Australia (CA) had slapped lengthy bans on the trio. While Smith and Warner received one-year ban each, Bancroft received a nine-month suspension.

Well, Warner seems to have moved on from that incident quite quickly. The opening batsman was the accused mastermind of the disastrous plot. The images of him crying in front of the media are still fresh in everyone’s mind.

But two months after that shameful episode, the southpaw did not hesitate in commentating. The decision, however, did not go down well with some.

Angry fans took to social media to slam his commentating skills. They also questioned if he was capable of making good analysis considering he is currently banned. Some even expressed their reservation over Warner earning from the game through other means while he has been banned.

Meanwhile, Warner will return to competitive cricket soon. The hard-hitting batsman along with Smith will make his comeback at the Global T20 Canada League after being picked in the players draft.

Warner will be playing for Winnipeg Hawks in the inaugural Global T20 tournament in Canada. The hard-hitting batsman will also play for St Lucia Stars in this year’s Caribbean Premier League.
