Despite Delhi getting the clearance to host the first T20I between India and Bangladesh, the weather or rather the pollution level in the national capital continues to hog all the limelight. Delhi’s air has reached a toxic level from quite some time now and present conditions are not promising either.

The overall air quality index (AQI) crossed the 400 mark on Wednesday this week, raising concerns among residents of the city. An AQI between 0-50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor”, and 401-500 “severe”. Above 500 is “severe-plus emergency” category.

Thus, there are apprehensions over the players being exposed to the polluted air while playing the game. No surprises then that the fans as well as players have been speaking about the conditions in Delhi rather than focusing on the match. And former India opener Gautam Gambhir tried to use the opportunity to take another shot at his political rivals AAP.

Gautam Gambhir, who won the election from East Delhi earlier this year, has never shied away from criticising AAP, the ruling party of the national capital. He once again did the same as he posted a clip of Bangladesh players and staffs training on the field while wearing masks. Taking a cheeky swipe at AAP, Gautam Gambhir tweeted:

However, the fans were far from being convinced with Gautam Gambhir for his tweet as they slammed the cricketer for politicising the matter.

Here are some of the reactions:

Both the teams will play three T20Is. Rajkot and Nagpur will host the other two T20Is. India will be firm favourites to win the series. With Virat Kohli rested, Rohit Sharma will lead the side. On the other hand, Bangladesh will miss the services of senior opener Tamim Iqbal and their former captain Shakib Al Hasan.

Tamim has pulled out of the tour to be with his pregnant wife while Shakib was recently banned by ICC for breaking anti-corruption code. Following the T20Is, both the teams will lock horns in a two-Test series.
