The way things have panned out in the past, one cannot help but think that Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli do not share a very cordial relation. Time and again, Gautam Gambhir has made it clear that he is not really a big fan of the current India skipper. Who can forget their famous fight in the IPL when they nearly traded blows.

In recent times, the former India opener has also taken shots at Kohli’ captaincy. Thus the fans thought that Gautam Gambhir took a dig at Kohli through his latest tweet. On Saturday evening, the former cricketer-turned-politician took to Twitter to lavish praise on Rohit Sharma after the latter scored his second century of the ongoing first Test against South Africa.

Earlier in the day, India bowled out South Africa for 431 to take a handy 71-run lead. The hosts started shakily with the bat as Mayank Agarwal departed for just 7. However, Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara soon batted India to a position of strength. The duo shared 169 runs for the second wicket before Pujara fell for 81.

But Rohit continued his fine form and punished the South Africa bowlers. The right-handed batsman, who scored 176 in the first innings, slammed 127 from just 149 balls. His impressive knock was laced with 10 fours and 7 sixes. Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane then scored some quick runs before India declared their innings on 323 for 4 to set the visitors a target of 395. In reply, South Africa ended the day on 11 for 1.
