Fans have started trolling Virender Sehwag after Glenn Maxwell’s whirlwind knock in the ongoing first ODI between India and and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Maxwell’s knock came just few days after Virender Sehwag’s ‘cheerleader’ jibe at the allrounder for his disastrous performance in IPL 2020. Kings XI Punjab had splashed a whopping amount of INR 10.75 crore in the previous auction to secure the Australian’s services but he failed to justify the price tag.

Maxwell played in every match except the last league game but managed to score just 108 runs from 11 innings at a paltry average of 15.42 and a dismal strike-rate of 101.88. He failed to hit a single six during the entire competition and faced criticism from several quarters for his poor performance.

Virender Sehwag also took shots at the allrounder. Known for his bold comments, the batting legend had said: “Glenn Maxwell. This 10 crore cheerleader proved very costly for Punjab. His IPL routine for the last few years has been of shirking from work but this season he broke that record as well. This is what you call a highly paid vacation.”

Glenn Maxwell bounces back:

Few days after the criticism, Glenn Maxwell showed his class against India by taking their bowlers to the cleaners. He scored 45 off just 19 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes and shared a 57-run stand off just 25 balls with Steve Smith.

Australia ended up posting a huge total of 374 for 6 in the allotted 50 overs. Captain Aaron Finch scored 114 while Smith scored 105. And as Maxwell took the Indian bowlers to the cleaners, the fans took to Twitter to troll Virender Sehwag for his old comment.
