Royal Challengers Bangalore star AB de Villiers kept rivalry aside and congratulated Mumbai Indians after they beat Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 final on Tuesday. Mumbai Indians thrashed Delhi Capitals by five wickets to win the IPL for the fifth time.

The Mumbai-based franchise has further enhanced its reputation of being IPL’s most successful team. No other team has won the IPL title more than thrice. Mumbai Indians also became just the second team after Chennai Super Kings to retain their IPL title.

Talking about the game, Mumbai Indians faced very little difficulty in crossing the finishing line as they beat Delhi Capitals for the fourth time this season. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 156 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for Delhi, scoring an unbeaten 65 while Rishabh Pant scored 56.

In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the total in the 19th over. Rohit led from the front and scored a fine 68 before being dismissed in the 17th over. Ishan Kishan also played a fine came of 33 not out.

Following the game, AB de Villiers took to Twitter to congratulate Mumbai Indians and also called them the best team of IPL 2020, writing:

“Well done @mipaltan ! Without a doubt the best team this year.”

Fans urge AB de Villiers to switch IPL team:

The fans were impressed with AB de Villiers’ tweet for a rival team and were quick to urge him to change sides in the IPL. The former South Africa skipper has been playing for RCB since 2011 but is yet to win the IPL. In the recently-concluded season too, he did well but RCB eventually crashed out at the playoffs stage.

In the Eliminator against SunRisers Hyderabad, AB de Villiers played a fighting knock of 56 but it was not enough as RCB ended up losing the game by 6 wickets. AB de Villiers finished the tournament as the third highest scorer for RCB behind Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli with 454 runs at 45.40 and a strike rate of 158.74 with five fifties.

And as the batting legend searches for his first IPL title, the fans have urged him to switch teams after failing to win it with RCB.
