Amol Muzumdar was found sidelined during the game when the record 661-runs partnership between Sachin Tendulkar & Vinod Kambli got stitched in the Harris Shield trophy. He had made a world record knock of 260 runs on his first-class debut. However, Amol never got a chance to play for India during a 21-year career.

Then, Mazumdar found it difficult to get into team India with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman in the middle-order.

Moreover, Amol had retired recently from first-class cricket scoring 11,167 runs from 171 matches with 30 centuries to his name.

Davendra Bundela

Davendra Bundela is the former cricketer from Madhya Pradesh who had more than 10,000 runs in first-class cricket. He played 164 first-class matches and scored at an average of 43.68.

The 41-year old Bundela had scored 9201 runs in Ranji Trophy that are around twice as compared to Sachin Tendulkar’s tally. Unfortunately, Davendra featured for the Indian team.

Mithun Manhas

Mithun Manhas was another victim of bad timing. He was a key player who scored 598 runs for Delhi to achieve the title during the 2007-08 season. Moreover, he had scored 9714 runs from his 157 first-class matches.

Manhas was also an off-break bowler with the capability of wicket-keeping as well. Manhas also played for Chennai Superkings, Delhi Daredevils, and Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, he was unfortunate for not getting any chance to play for India in spite of his good first-class career.

Amarjit Kaypee

Amarjit Kaypee had the most number of runs before Amol Mazumdar leapfrogged him in 2009. The Punjab based cricketer had 7623 in Ranji Trophy. His overall first-class runs are 7894 at an average of 52.27. His career best is 210* in 117 first-class matches.

Pankaj Dharmani

Pankaj Dharmani played for Punjab in domestic and also played a single ODI match against South Africa in 1996. He could only score eight runs in that match besides getting involved in four dismissals as a wicket-keeper.

At an average of 50.06, he had hit 9312 first-class runs in 147 games. He had 42 half-centuries and 26 tons. Pankaj also had scored 7621 runs in Ranji Trophy but unfortunately never got a Test nod.
