Former Cricketer And BCCI General Manager Of Cricket Operations MV Sridhar Passes Away

In an unfortunate news, MV Sridhar, former BCCI general manager of cricket operations, passed awayd on Monday (October 30) aged 51. The former cricketer suffered a heart attack at his home and was declared dead after being taken to hospital.

Last month, Sridhar had tendered his resignation from his post in the aftermath of the controversy surrounding the conflict of interest. According to media reports, the former Hyderabad player had not disclosed to the BCCI that he operated several clubs in Hyderabad and was reportedly getting paid by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) during his tenure with the BCCI. The Times of India had reported that Sridhar was the president of five clubs in Hyderabad: Vijaynagar CC, Safilguda CC, Consult Colts CC, Nataraj CC and Satyam Colts CC.

Sridhar had also not informed the BCCI that his name was involved in a chargesheet filed by the anti-corruption bureau against HCA officials for alleged misappropriation of funds in 2014.

The BCCI had roped in Sridhar as the general manager in 2013 when N Srinivasan was the president. He played an integral role in the administration like looking after the needs of the teams across age group and sex  in addition to overseeing the schedules of both domestic and international tournaments.

He also accompanied Virat Kohli & Co. to the Caribbeans when Anil Kumble had stepped down as India coach after the Champions Trophy in June.

Sridhar was also an important part of the Hyderabad team in the 90s. He represented the team in 97 first-class matches, scoring 6701 runs at an impressive average of over 48 with the help of 21 centuries and 27 fifties His highest score was 366.
