After Holi, Team India will start a three-match ODI series with South Africa from March 12. For this, the Indian team is yet to be announced. But for the impending home series, Team India can give rest to some star players.

In fact, some of the players of Team India have been on the cricket field for a long time and after the upcoming ODI series, they have to play in the IPL starting on March 29.

Let’s take a look at the four Indian players who can be rested for the South Africa series.

Since Mohammed Shami has returned to the team, he has become India’s main bowler. Shami has been associated with Team India continuously for a long time. In such a situation, the team management may consider resting him in the ODI series against South Africa on home soil.

In fact, a fast bowler’s constant stay on the cricket field can increase difficulties for his fitness. Recently, in the third ODI against New Zealand, Shami was rested by captain Virat Kohli.

If Shami is a part of Team India in the one-day series against South Africa, then it will be very difficult for him, because after this he will have to play all the matches for the team in the IPL starting on 29 March. He is the main fast bowler of Kings XI Punjab. Looking at Shami’s workload, he can be relaxed.

The stars of Kuldeep Yadav are seen in girdle these days. In fact, in the first ODI against New Zealand, the Kiwi players beat Kuldeep fiercely. After this, captain Virat Kohli kept him out of the playing eleven of both the matches.

In such a situation, it will not be wrong to say that the team management should drop Kuldeep Yadav in the ODI series against South Africa. Also, he has to represent Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL starting on March 29.

Now if the management drops the player, then Yuzvendra Chahal will be expected to get more chances. However, it will be confirmed only after the announcement of the team as to which player has got the opportunity to rest and who has been included in the squad.

Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder of the Indian cricket team, is currently a part of all three formats. He has been with the team continuously since last year, so the team management can give rest to the player. Although Jadeja’s fitness is excellent, due to continuous cricket, his fitness could come under the radar.

Also, Jadeja has to represent Chennai Super Kings in IPL. Therefore, the team management can rest the player and add Washington Sundar to the squad.

Jadeja has been a consistent part in all three formats since the 77-run stormy innings played in the semi-finals of the World Cup. If the team management gives rest to the player then he will have about 25 days to rest.

Virat Kohli

Indian captain Virat Kohli has been continuously on the cricket field for a long time. The last time Kohli was rested was in the T20I series against Bangladesh. Since then, he has been a regular part of the team.

Now, the team management can consider giving rest to Kohli. In fact, Virat has to play all the matches in the IPL starting on March 29, in which case if he is not given rest, then his fitness can come under the radar.

The team management would not like to take such a huge risk before the ICC T20 World Cup to be played in Australia in October.

Therefore, they can rest Kohli against South Africa. Virat will only be rested if Rohit Sharma will be back in time to lead the team.
