Gautam Gambhir never shies away from taking on Pakistan. During his playing days, he rarely failed against the arch-rivals and in recent times, he never shies away from taking shots at them. As usual, the former India batsman hits out at Pakistan only after the latter’s nuisances with cross-border terrorism being one of the most common issues.

Recently, he gave Shahid Afridi a befitting reply after the latter’s take on Kashmir issue. India recently abolished article 370 which has not gone down well with the Pakistani mass. But when Afridi expressed his displeasure over the issue, Gambhir was quick to hit back at him.

So, here we take a look at four incidents when Gautam Gambhir blasted Pakistan:

4. Gautam Gambhir shocked with Bollywood:

Known for his outspoken nature, Gautam Gambhir had lashed out at Bollywood celebrities, who expressed their support towards Pakistani artists performing in this country in the wake of the Uri attacks carried out by Pakistani-backed terrorists. The Indian government had responded with surgical strikes across the Line of Control in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

“India should not have any ties with Pakistan be it Bollywood or cricket. I am shocked that Bollywood is saying that cricket and movies should be kept ahead of national sentiments,” Gambhir had said.

“I want to ask those supporting Pakistani artists, if they would have done the same if any of their family members would have died,” he added.

3. Gambhir asks the civilians to jump into action:

In the wake of the Pulwama attack, India took some drastic actions against Pakistan. One of them was that the Government of India withdrew the ‘Most Favoured Nation’ status it had bestowed to Pakistan in the year 1996. However, Gautam Gambhir wanted Pakistan to have the ‘MFN’ status but said that the civilians should now decide what the ‘F’ stands for.

“I have some news for Pakistan. We should continue their ‘MFN’ status. Only thing is, that this time we the civilians will decide what ‘F’ stands for,” Gautam Gambhir tweeted.

2. Gautam Gambhir gives Imran Khan a taste of his own medicine:

Gautam Gambhir was one of the several sports star who hailed the Indian Air Force (IAF) for airstrikes that targeted Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists and trainers in Pakistan. Gambhir took to social media and praised the way in which India responded to the dastardly terror attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the terror attack.

“We decided the time, we decided the place and we have decided the fate ???????? @IAF_MCC @adgpi #SurgicalStrikes2 #airstrikes,” Gambhir wrote.

The World Cup-winning star’s comment came just hours after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said his country would choose the time and place to respond to what he called “uncalled-for aggression” by India.

1. Boycott Pakistan:

Following the dastardly Pulwama attack, Gautam Gambhir said that India should boycott Pakistan in the World Cup. Gambhir said that India should boycott Pakistan even if they face the arch-rivals in the final of the marquee event.

“We can’t play with the sentiments of our country,” he said. “Two points are not important than the lives of our soldiers but for this, the entire country needs to be on the same page. We should have the courage to lose points even it’s the first match or the finals.”

“Even if we boycott playing the World Cup final against Pakistan, the country must stand together, there can’t be a difference of opinions,” said Gambhir. “There should not be any backlash for the decision taken.”
