'From Great Cricketer To Puppet Of Pakistan Army And Terrorists' - Mohammad Kaif Slams Imran Khan

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has come down hard on Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister. He criticised Imran for his UN speech that he delivered a couple of weeks back.

“Yes ,but your country Pakistan certainly has a lot lot to do with terrorism, a safe breeding ground for terrorists. What an unfortunate speech at the UN and what a fall from grace from being a great cricketer to a puppet of Pakistan army and terrorists,” Kaif wrote on Twitter.

Apart from Kaif, former cricketers Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh had also criticised Imran for his speech at the UN. Sehwag had called Imran’s speech pathetic while Harbhajan also asked Imran to promote peace.

“You sound like a welder from the Bronx, says the anchor. After the pathetic speech in the UN a few days ago , this man seems to be inventing new ways to humiliate himself,’ Sehwag had written on Twitter.

Talking of Kaif, the 38-year-old announced his retirement from the game last year in July – exactly 16 years after he and Yuvraj Singh steered India to a historic win over England in the Natwest Trophy final at Lord’s. kaif was awarded Man of the Match award for his innings of 87* off 75.

Kaif played 13 tests and 125 ODIs in which he scored 624 and 2753 runs, respectively. His last mach came in 2006 against South Africa.

Kaif did come close to national selection in 2012/13 after he was selected in India A squad but was out of favour once again. Before 2016/17 season, he joined Chhattisgarh as their mentor and player.

Before retirement, he also contested election in 2014. Ahead of IPL 2017, he joined Gujarat Lions as assistant coach and later joined Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2019.

Regarded as one of the finest fielders in Indian cricket, Kaif is also a commentator and often shares his views on the game.
