From Pro Kabaddi to Mumbai T20 league: Tracing the story of Pratik Dabholkar

The Trump Knights have an allrounder in the form of Pratik Dabholkar. His abilities are not confined to the cricketing field but also as a trainer in the Pro-Kabbadi League.

Dabholkar is a professional fitness trainer who has worked with Pro Kabaddi team Puneri Paltan. The 26-year old is not a novice when it comes to the game of cricket.

He was part of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad in 2012 against Gujarat at the DY Patil Stadium in Nerul. However, he wasn’t fortunate enough to feature in the playing XI.

That said, Pratik has been working at former India pacer Zaheer Khan’s fitness centres for the last three years. Starting off with a base price of INR 50K, Dhabolkar went on to register a price tag of 2,60,000.

I got picked [at the auction] as a fast bowler, so my main aim is to get wickets and help my team win matches. Though there is a fitness trainer with the team, I will also help our players as a fitness trainer to bring the best out of them,” quoted the Pratik Dabholkar.

Three weeks before the League in May, our player Rohit Chaudhary dislocated his shoulder. Chances of him recovering were thin but with proper treatment and rehab, he recovered within four weeks and performed well in the tournament,” stated the Mumbaikar when asked about PKL activities.

Dhabolkar intends to implement his learnings from the sport of Kabbadi into cricket. Furthermore, the Mumbaikar hopes to enjoy the new challenge of T20 cricket.

Being a fast bowler, I have a fair idea of fitness and the importance of physical training. My stint in kabaddi was a good experience. It is a contact sport, played with high intensity so chances of injuries are greater. The T20 League is a good opportunity for me and I will enjoy the challenge of being a bowler,” concluded Pratik Dabholkar.
