Gautam Gambhir joining politics has been the story since the day he had announced his retirement. More often than not, the ex-India opener had denied such reports. Even now, Gautam has put all such stories under the wrap. In his latest tweet, Gambhir said he has no intentions of joining politics anytime soon; and like every Indian around, he is just waiting for the India team to win the Test series in Australia.

Putting some weight behind his statement, Gambhir urged his fans not to fall prey to such speculative stories.

“There have been speculative stories that I am joining politics. Please allow me to clarify that there’s no truth in this. At the moment, I am merely a retired cricketer who like all of you is waiting for India’s series win in Australia.”

Meanwhile, in the four-match Test series against Australia, India is presently leading by 2-1. In the ongoing fourth  Test at the SCG, Virat had won the toss and India had opted to bat first. The decision looked to have benefited the visitors, as they got going after losing KL Rahul early.

The pair of Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal was among the runs, as the former completed his 18th Test hundred later in the day. Mayank, on the other hand, scored 77 runs before getting out to Nathan Lyon. Skipper Virat Kohli couldn’t make it big on the day, as he got out on 23 to Josh Hazlewood. Ajinkya Rahane, who in the series, has had got starts didn’t capitalise on the day, as he got out on 18 off 55 balls. However, at stumps on day one, India’s scorecard read 303/4 with Pujara and Hanuma Vihari at the crease.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir has been waiting for India to win the Tests in Australia, and create history. As far as his connection with politics is concerned, Gambhir has snubbed such reports again.
