ToggleOn National Sports Day, the Government of India has conferred the athletes of India with various prestigious awards. One of them was the Dronacharya Award, which would be given to the best coaches in the country. This time, the award was conferred to Sanjay Bharadwaj. He is the childhood coach of Gautam Gambhir, Amit Mishra and a few other talented cricketers, who were selected in the senior team.
In his glittering coaching career, Bhardwaj has coached the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Amit Mishra, Reema Malhotra, Joginder Sharma, Unmukt Chand and Nitish Rana. The Selection Committee for sports award backed Bhardwaj for the prestigious Dronacharya Award on Saturday.

Dronacharya award was presented to Vimal Kumar for Badminton and Sandeep Gupta for Table Tennis in regular category. While, in the life-time category, Merzban Patel (Hockey), Rambir Singh Khokhar (Kabaddi) and Sanjay Bharadwaj (Cricket) were awarded.

Meanwhile, the former opening batsman Gautam Gambhir expressed his delight and congratulations to Sanjay for his achievement. And also, Gambhir quoted that it is his privilege to get coached under Sanjay Bharadwaj and gave a part of his success to him as well.
“I’m very happy that my coach, the man who moulded me to become the person I am today. And also, who I dedicate all my achievements too, Shri Sanjay Bharadwaj ji. He has been honoured with the Dronacharya Award. It’s been a privilege to have learnt so much from you. Congratulations sir,” Gambhir wrote on Twitter.

The academy was founded in 1996 and Gambhir and Mishra were its first students to play the Ranji Trophy and for India. Bhardwaj recently said that there are at least 35 graduates of this academy who are playing the Ranji Trophy at the moment. All in all, it was a proud moment for him.
