Tendulkar retired from international cricket on November 14 in 2013 and almost six years after his retirement received the best prize. According to the ICC regulations, a player can be inducted into the Hall of Fame 5 years after his/her retirement. Soon after Sachin Tendulkar received the honour, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir congratulated the legendary cricketer. He also said that Tendulkar deserved the award during his playing days.

“Congratulations on being inducted in the #ICCHallOfFame @sachin_rt paaji. Something I earnestly believe should have happened in your playing days itself. Very well deserved,” Gambhir congratulated Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar was quick to notice Gautam Gambhir’s congratulatory message on Twitter and thanked him for all the kind words. He also added that these words inspire a cricketer to give his full effort on the cricketing field.

“Thanks Gautam. Words like these make it worth the effort,” Sachin Tendulkar replied.
