Gautam Gambhir has hailed Rohit Sharma as the most dangerous and the best player in the world after the latter’s heroics in the ongoing first Test against South Africa. Unlike his ODI and T20I career, Rohit Sharma is yet to establish himself in Tests. While he made his debut in Tests in 2013, he is still not a regular member of the team.

Things, however, are looking set to change. Rohit Sharma was tried out as an opener for the first time in the ongoing match and he has totally justified the decision. The right-handed batsman scored centuries in both the innings of the match to put India in a strong position. In the first innings, he scored 176 as he shared a mammoth 317-run stand with Mayank Agarwal.

He then backed it up with an entertaining knock of 127. With India needing quick runs, Rohit Sharma slammed 127 from just 149 balls with the help of 10 fours and seven sixes. After Mayank Agarwal departed quickly, Rohit Sharma added 169 runs with Cheteshwar Pujara to put India in a strong position.

Impressed with Rohit’s latest knock, former India batsman Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter to hail him. Gambhir called his former teammate the most dangerous and the best player in the world, writing:

“@ImRo45 the most dangerous player in the world….the best as well.”

Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, became only the second Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar to score centuries in both the innings of a game. Overall, he became the sixth Indian to achieve this feat. He also became the first player to achieve the incredible milestone in only his first game as an opener.
