Former Team India skipper Anil Kumble graced the planet earth on this beautiful day, 49 years ago. Since the clock ticked 12, social media platforms were flooded with birthday messages. Gautam Gambhir posted a special message for the illustrated cricketer and also revealed the best skipper he has played under.
The former southpaw has been one of India’s unsung heroes. Gambhir has played many match-winning knocks including the 2011 World Cup; however, didn’t get the reward he deserves. Since making his India debut in 2003, Gambhir has played under many great leaders.
But he picked Anil Kumble as the best while paying tribute to one of India’s greatest match-winners. Along with his birthday wish, Gambhir also thanked Kumble for inspiring other cricketers to take up the game.
“Birthday wishes to India’s greatest match winner @anilkumble1074! Have learnt so much from you and you are the best leader that I have played under! Thanks for inspiring generations of cricketers,” Gautam Gambhir tweeted.

Speaking about the game, Kings XI Punjab has appointed the 49-year-old Anil Kumble as the head coach for the upcoming seasons. He will also oversee all cricket related issues in the franchise. This is the first time, the former leg-spinner will coach any side after stepping down as India’s head coach in 2017.
The former India head coach has already set his eyes on the coveted title and will start strategising soon for the auction in December as he wants to add more experience. Kings XI Punjab along with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals are the only franchises to not win the league since inception.
