Gayle Hasn't Crossed 30, So CSK Decided Against Picking Him Reads a Tweet From CSK Official Twitter Handle

He is an IPL legend. He is a T20 legend. He is the best batsman the world has ever seen in the shortest format of the game. The player I am talking about is none other than Chris Gayle who is a Caribbean legend and a prolific run-scorer in T20 tournaments all across the globe. The southpaw hasn’t been in the best of forms in the recent past and even in the previous edition of IPL he was below par and was dropped from the Playing XI during the later stages of the tournament.

Despite his indifferent form in the recent past, it was still expected that the southpaw would bag a substantial IPL contract, but it wasn’t to be on the first day of the IPL Auctions. He had a base price of Rs 2 crores and given his injury-prone body and inconsistency he remained unsold all through yesterday’s auction.

His name came back for the 2^nd time today morning in the 2^nd day of the auctions, but for one more time, he remained unsold. However, his name was requested for the 3^rd time a few minutes back, and ultimately he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab for his base price of Rs 2 crores.

It will be the first time Gayle will be playing for the Kings XI Punjab. Two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings who will be returning to the tournament after serving a suspension for a couple of years. A fan taking to his twitter handle said that the team needs a good opener and are lacking one. He further asked that why didn’t they pick Chris Gayle.

In reply, Chennai Super Kings in a sarcastic way said that:

“He hasn’t crossed 30! So the team has decided against him.” It must be noted that the Chennai Super Kings squad is loaded with players who are over 30 years of age.

There have been several jokes on the social media over the past two days that one needs to post 30 to be part of this unit and even CSK took it in a light-hearted manner. It proves not only they have a great team but have a great sense of humour.
