Of late, the preference of playing in Test cricket has gone down significantly, as many players are wanting to play limited overs format. Meanwhile, there are few players, who would like to see themselves playing in the longer version of the game. The swashbuckling all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is the latest to join the bandwagon, who wants to play Test cricket at any cost.

Recently, Glenn Maxwell pulled himself out of the IPL 2019 auction in order to concentrate on some red-ball cricket. However, Cricket Australia has ignored him for the series against Pakistan and in the home series against India.

Speaking of leaving IPL contract, Glenn Maxwell quoted that he desperately wants to play for Australia in the Test format. He added that the desire to play Tests is burning him deep inside and wants to do everything in the domestic arena to get the nod.

“This is a pretty clear sign that I still want to play Test cricket. To knock back a chance to play was a big decision and a tough decision. It’s not something you make lightly, but the thought of playing Test cricket again still burns deep. I still desperately want to get back out there and I still think I have a lot to offer the Australian Test team,” Glenn Maxwell said while speaking to the Herald Sun.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell, who failed to put a sign on the IPL agreements paper has signed a deal for Lancashire. He will be playing for them in the county cricket in order to seal the place in the Australian squad for Ashes and also for ICC World Cup 2019.

Speaking of that Hohns quoted ”Glenn has chosen to go and play county cricket again this year and a lot of that is one-day cricket leading up to the World Cup. He has also chosen not to put his name in for the IPL so that’s all credit to him for doing that. He is genuinely trying to improve himself and give himself the best possible opportunity to have some practice in England leading into the Ashes if he is chosen, leading into the World Cup. Full credit to him for that,” he added.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Glenn Maxwell. Though Maxwell has got great determination to play Test cricket, the Australian selectors want him to show it via his scores in the domestic circuit.
