Haris Rauf was a part of the Melbourne Stars’ set-up which lost to Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2019-20 final. He had contributed to the fore for Melbourne Stars in their success and credited captain Glenn Maxwell and coach David Hussey for showing immense support in him.

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf played 10 matches in the season for the Melbourne outfit. He picked up 20 wickets with the best bowling figures of 5/27. It was his first five-wicket haul in the BBL as his dream run in the lucrative tournament continued further helping his cause to cement his place for the upcoming season.

Glen Maxwell had extraordinary confidence in my ability: Haris Rauf

Glen Maxwell showed confidence in the Pakistan fast bowler and he delivered. Rauf also said coach David Hussey also backed him to do well in the season and he was happy with his performance. Rauf largely owes his bowling performance to Maxwell as he thinks his captain went out of his way to support him.

“I feel that coach David Hussey and captain Glenn Maxwell’s confidence in my abilities was the key factor in my excellent performances in the BBL,” Rauf was quoted as saying by PakPassion.net.

“Maxwell had extraordinary confidence in my ability to bowl and used me where I was of most use to the team.

“He went out of his way to support me whilst we were on the field and for my part, I repaid him by bowling to the plan and to the fields he set for me,” he added.

Rauf bowled at an economy rate of 7.06 in his debut season for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL).
