It was an energetic performance from the Winnipeg Hawks against the off-colour Edmonton Royals that led them to finish third on the points table in the ongoing Canada Global T20 League.

Well, just over the Royals, Hawks will get a psychological edge as the two teams are going to face each other again after a day-long gap.

Stats and Numbers:

While batting first Royals seemed helpless before speedster Fidel Edwards of Hawks weaved magic by bagging four wickets for just 19 runs.

Moreover, apart from Agha Salman and Abraas Khan, no other batsman managed to deliver for Royals. Agha scored 42 runs and his partner, Abraas scored 30. However, Royals were bamboozled for just 141 runs.

In response to 141 runs of Royals, Hawks went through a flier. With Warner’s 42 and 38 from Simmons, Hawks achieved the target convincingly.

Star performers:

It was a much-wanted show of suspended Warner, who only managed to score 12 runs in his first four outings. Against Royals, Warner scored a blistering knock of 42 runs off 35 balls which includes six fours and one massive six.

Apart from him, it was Simmons, who scored 38 off 23 balls including four boundaries and three magnanimous sixes.

From the bowling perspective, it was Edwards, who did the superb job against Royals and they appeared helpless before the one-man show in the bowling department. Sparing one ball of his four-over quota, Edwards finished things off in style.

The crucial moment of the match:

The comeback of David Warner will please Hawks immensely as he was struggling throughout the tournament. His partnership with Simmons set a tempo for Hawks and a final touch from Mark Diyal was all that Hawks required.

Man of the match.

It was Edwards who was adjudged Man of the match award. Fidel said he’s full of rejoicing after getting such figures and is hopeful to maintain same show in next match. His figures were: 3.5-0-19-4

Who said what.

Sohail Tanvir, Royals captain, said: “Not the ideal finish. Still, there are a few areas we need to improve. Few concerns as a team. Still in playoffs. Matter of three wins and we can lift the trophy. Batted well in first half but couldn’t finish strongly. Tomorrow is a new day.”

David Warner, Hawks captain asserted: “Bowlers bowled extremely well today. It’s hard. If you miss your lengths, as a batsman you can use your feet and dispatch it. Fidel was on fire. It’s a tough wicket but you’ve got to give yourself time. Today chasing 140-odd, I allowed myself time. Simmons’s nail came off with the cut.”
