Windies Cricket team legend Brian Lara has recently admitted that the game has finally got a leader in Virat Kohli, who has done exceedingly well in recent times.
Meanwhile, Kohli recently became the fastest to score 10000 ODI runs going past Sachin Tendulkar regarding innings. Moreover, he was also pivotal for India’s series win against India scoring three consecutive hundreds. Impressed by his leadership skills, Brian Lara has hailed the Indian skipper for his consistency across all the formats.
“The game has a leader at the moment. Whatever Kohli is doing today is phenomenal. The rate of scoring, his fitness, and the importance he gives to a lot of different things. It is great to see that the game has a leader at this moment,” Lara told PTI.
Brian Lara also stated the Virat Kohli should not bother about comparisons. The legendary southpaw added that everyone grows in their era and people should appreciate it.
“If you talk about Sachin and me – you read a lot about it and you hear about the comparisons and it was not a significant thing (for us),” he said.“I am sure Kohli also does not pay much attention to these things. I think everyone gets it wrong. Everyone grows up in a different era and you have to appreciate what anyone brings to the table,” Brian Lara added.
Virat Kohli after leading India to Test and ODI series win over Windies has been rested from the T20I series. Rohit Sharma will be leading the team in his absence in the three-match series.
