Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Shashank Singh finally got a chance to bat in the middle after spending the last few matches just fielding despite being in the playing XI, and he made full use of that opportunity, slamming 25* in 6 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2022.

Both the sides had met previously in the IPL 2022 as well and Sunrisers Hyderabad had defeated Gujarat Titans to kickoff their five-match winning streak, while Gujarat came into this match for a chance to go to the top of the IPL 2022 points table.

GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first and announced that they were going in unchanged. On the other hand, SRH welcomed Washington Sundar back into the side in place of Jagadeesha Suchith.

Kane Williamson fell for 5, while Rahul Tripathi made 16 and was looking good before he was trapped LBW by Mohammad Shami. However, Abhishek Sharma with 65 in 42 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours, and Aiden Markram with 56 in 40 balls, stabilized the SRH innings. But when the last push to the total was given from Shashank Singh in the last two overs.

He started off by hitting Alzarri Joseph for a four on the first ball he faced in the IPL 2022. In the last over, bowled by Lockie Ferguson, Marco Jansen started off well by hitting him for a six off the first ball. Then a single off the third ball gave Shashank strike for the last 3 balls and he made full use of it.

The 4th ball was a slower one at 130kph and Shashank pulled it to midwicket for a six. The next ball was a yorker gone wrong and Shashank ramped it over the fine leg for a six. Ferguson sent down a fastball at the sixth stump, but it was a length ball and Shashank just drove it high and over David Miller at long-off.
