Gurpreet Singh Sadhu Cherishes a Fan Boy Moment with Rahul Dravid

Goalkeeper of Indian national football team, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu had a fanboy moment when he happened to meet Wall of Indian Cricket, Mr Rahul Dravid.

It will definitely give a person goosebumps if he happens to meet his childhood idol and it was exactly what happened with Gurpreet. Despite being a national hero himself he looks up to veteran cricketer Dravid.

Dravid is currently serving as the coach of Indian Junior and A teams. Under his mentorship, the India Under-19 team won the World Cup in New Zealand, earlier this year (2018).

The star cricketer Dravid was a revelation during his playing days and continue the same role as a mentor for India U-19 and A teams.

Dravid has built a great culture in the junior teams. When Rahul is at the helm of junior cricket you can be well assured that the future is in safe hands.

Dravid’s career in a glance

During his heydays, Dravid was one of the pillars of Indian cricket. Making his debut alongside Sourav Ganguly in 1996, he went on to play quite successfully for the next 16 years.

Dravid had a brilliant career to boast of and scored 10,000 runs in both Tests and One-day International cricket. The Wall made the No. three position in Test cricket his very own for a long time.

The Indore-based cricketer called it quits from international cricket in 2011 after playing his final Test against Australia.

The solid middle-order batsman is the fourth highest run-getter in Test cricket behind the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Jacques Kallis. He appeared in 164 Tests for his country which is third in the list for most Tests played behind Tendulkar and former Aussie skipper Steve Waugh.

Dravid amassed 13,288 runs during his career at a very healthy average of 52. 31. He smashed 36 centuries during his Test career alongside 63 half-centuries.

Also, the right-handed batsman boasts of a very good ODI record. He played 344 ODI’s scoring 10,889 runs at an average of 39.16.

Moreover, Rahul Dravid has a total of 12 centuries and 83 half-centuries in his ODI career.

While sharing a picture with the man himself, Gurpreet wrote, “It’s not every day that the Great Wall of India himself asks if he can wear my gloves!”
