Happy Independence Day: Cricketers Wish India On 71st Independence Day

One day before the 71st Independence Day, Team India gave the nation a brilliant gift as it thrashed Sri Lanka by an innings and 171 runs to complete its first three-Test series sweep on a foreign soil. With the series already in pocket following the convincing wins in the first two Tests, Virat Kohli & Co. wrapped up the three-match series in an emphatic manner by defeating the hosts inside three days.

The win in Sri Lanka is India’s eighth consecutive victory under Virat Kohli. Prior to the latest series win, India defeated Sri Lanka and South Africa in 2015 before winning against West Indies (2-0), New Zealand (3-0), England (4-0), Bangladesh (1-0) and Australia (2-1) last year.

With the win coming just a day before the Independence Day, the fans could not have asked for anything more and their day was further made when cricketers across the globe wished the whole nation on such a big occasion:
