Happy That I Could Bowl in Good Areas: Mehidy Hasan

Mehidy Hasan, the off-spinner from Bangladesh, admitted that bowling in right areas had earned him success following his match-winning spell against Windies at Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Hasan bagged 12 wickets as Bangladesh inflicted an innings and 184 runs win over the visitors to sweep the series 2-0. The off-spinner bagged seven wickets in the first innings which helped them make Windies follow-on and sealed the game with a five-wicket haul in the second. Moreover, this is the first time Bangladesh have made any team follow-on in their history of Test cricket.
“I am happy that I could bowl in good areas,” Mehidy said after the match. “If I could not bowl in good areas I wouldn’t have got the wickets and it wouldn’t have served the purpose of the team,” he added.
Shimron Hetmyer was the only notable name in otherwise what have been a poor show from the Windies batters. The southpaw played a defiant knock of 93 runs before getting out of Mehidy Hasan. Reflecting on the same, Hasan said that he knows Hetmyer from the age group days and his style of play.
“I have played against him [Hetmyer] for a long time since the Under-19 World Cup. So I am pretty aware how he plays. I am happy that my plan against him worked,” Mehidy continues.
However, while rating his effort, Mehidy ranked it second behind his 12 for 157 against England at the same venue in October 2016.
“I think I would keep that [England Test] ahead as I was quite inexperienced at that point. Now I have played international cricket for two years. But this one is special too,” he concluded.
