Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has raised questions on India’s team management. India are currently playing against New Zealand in the second ODI of the three-match series. India lost the first game due to their indisciplined bowling by four wickets. The second ODI is a must-win for India and it was expected that they will go on the field with their best eleven after losing the first game in Hamilton.

Questions were raised on the decision-making abilities in the last game too when Navdeep Saini and Yuzvendra Chahal were excluded from the final eleven.

Now, in the penultimate ODI, India came up with another surprising decision when captain Kohli said during the toss that Mohammed Shami has been rested for the game because of the upcoming Test series.

Thus, it left fans and experts equally surprised.

Harbhajan Singh Shocked by India’s Decision:

Bhajji, like everyone else, was shocked by India’s decision to exclude Mohammed Shami.

“I don’t know why he (Shami) is not playing,” Harbhajan told Star Sports in the pre-match show.

The Turbanator justified the team’s decision of including Saini but he believed Saini should have replaced Shardul Thakur instead of Shami.

Recently, Shardul proved to be the most expensive bowler for India in the first game giving away 80 runs in the nine overs he bowled.

There was no reason to exclude Shami in the second ODI. India captain Kohli opted to bowl first and informed that India made two changes to their playing XI that lost the first ODI at Hamilton.

“Mohammed Shami has been rested, we’ve got the Test series coming up, he’s one of the main bowlers for us,” said Kohli.

However, India made a sensible decision by including Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep proved to be the second-costliest bowler in the first game of the series. He gave away 84 runs in his 10 overs. Chahal has made a return to the ODI format after six months. And, he is expected to deliver the goods for India in the remainder of the series.
