Harbhajan, who recently turned 39, made his debut way back as a teenager in 1998. Post his heroics in the 2001 Test series against Australia where he claimed 32 wickets which also included a hat-trick, the ‘turbanator’ went on to impinge himself as one of the leading off-spinners in the world and only the third India after Kapil Dev [434] and Anil Kumble [632] to claim more than 400 Test wickets.

For Harbhajan, it is only about skills, something he still backs to come out trumps against the current lot

‘You still want to test me by pitting me for a battle of skills against those youngsters you consider best in the business, please bring it on,” Harbhajan Singh, former 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup winner, told PTI.

Harbhajan Singh added that age at one-level is a bit over-rated. When asked about how he managed to maintain his performances by playing only IPL and no domestic cricket, the 103-Test veteran said that he has played at least 800 days of cricket in Indian colors and so his experience has kept him in good stead.

“You can talk about age if the ball while fielding goes between your legs or your knees are gone or you have done in the shoulder which is the reason you can’t give that force,” Harbhjan said

“But yes, I have been on the field wearing those Indian colors for at least 800 days (playing time). I have been an achiever who doesn’t need anyone’s sympathy. But yes, if it’s about skills, bring the best in India and I am still ready,” he said.

Harbhajan added that the lockdown has helped him get fitter than ever before, adding that he feels rejuvenated just like the 2013 IPL where he claimed 24 wickets.

“I can’t say whether this will be my last IPL. It depends on my body. After four months of workout, rest, yoga sessions, I feel rejuvenated just like 2013, when I had 24 wickets in that IPL edition,” said the man, who has 150 scalps from 160 IPL games in 12 seasons.
