Showing exemplary courage, Mohammed Siraj has decided to stay in Australia with Team India instead of returning home after the death of his father. The pacer’s father Mohammed Ghouse passed away aged 53 on Friday. He was suffering from a lung ailment.

Ghouse’s health deteriorated while Mohammed Siraj was busy playing in IPL 2020 in the UAE. Ghouse was hospitalised while the tournament was on in the gulf nation. At that time too, Mohammed Siraj had put up a brave face and continued playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

On Friday, the BCCI revealed that it had offered Mohammed Siraj the option of flying back to India and be with his bereaved family. However, the right-arm pacer decided against it and would continue his preparation for the series Down Under.

Harbhajan Singh’s reaction:

The cricket fraternity has been lauding Mohammed Siraj for his brave decision. Soon after the BCCI released their statement on Twitter, the fans started praising the pacer for his brave decision and veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has reacted to it too.

The India legend re-tweeted BCCI’s tweet and wrote a heartwarming caption, tweeting:

“May god give him strength to deal with this”.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj is gearing up for his first-ever Test series. A consistent performer in domestic circuit, the pacer earned his maiden Test call-up last month for the upcoming four-match series in Australia. The Test series is scheduled to start on December 17 in Adelaide.

The Adelaide Test will be a day-night affair. It will also be the first-ever day-night Test between the two teams. Prior to the Test series, India will also play three ODIs and three T20Is against the hosts. The ODI series will kickstart the tour on November 27.
