When any Indian cricket lover looks back at 7th February, he will surely recall the day with fond memories only because if he was born in an era when the Tendulkars, the Dravids, the Ganguly’s and the Kumble’s graced the charismatic game together.

The Indian side had some sensational names in the squad and Kumble was one among them who still stands, as arguably as one of the biggest match winners for India as far as the longest format of the game is concerned.

There is every possibility that Ravichandran Ashwin will go on to break his record of wickets tally, but Kumble will remain the undisputed hero of Indian cricket despite what had transpired in the last couple of years.

On 7th February 19 years ago, Kumble was in the thick of things for becoming the only 2nd bowler after English spinner Jim Laker to bag ten wickets in an innings. On that very day, Kumble bagged all 10 Pakistan wickets which eventually helped India win the Test quite comprehensively.

He began with the wicket of Shahid Afridi and then dismissed Ijaz Ahmed in the same over to trigger the Pakistan collapse. It was Wasim Akram who was Kumble’s 10th victim when he was caught at short leg by VVS Laxman which made Kumble enter the record books.

Out of favour Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh who was Kumble’s partner on several occasions took his twitter handle and recalled the day when the legend wrote his name in the history books to become only the 2nd bowler to bag ten wickets in an innings in international cricket.

Taking to his twitter handle Harbhajan wrote,

“Congratulations Anil bhai.. 19 sal pehle I was only 17 yrs during this game..kya match tha.. galat baat hai aap sab wicket akela le gye..it was great to part of that game.. india s biggest match winner ever #ANILKUMBLE”
