Harbhajan Singh Slams Adam Gilchrist For DRS Jibe

Harbhajan Singh has hit back at Adam Gilchrist after the former Australia batsman’s comment on his hat-trick in the 2001 Eden Gardens Test. In the iconic Kolkata Test, the off-spinner had become the first Indian to take a Test hat-trick. In the first innings of the game, Harbhajan had dismissed Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne.
However, Gilchrist is perhaps still not fine with his dismissal. His dismissal was indeed controversial as the ball had first hit his bat before going on to hit the pads. But the umpire had given him out. Gilchrist recently expressed his feelings over the dismissal when a fan posted a video of that hat-trick on Twitter and tagged the former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman.

The legendary wicketkeeper rued the absence of Decision Review System during that time as he tweeted:

Gilchrist’s comment, however, did not go down well Harbhajan Singh as the latter berated the Aussie for the same. Harbhajan slammed Gilchrist and asked him to stop crying as he wrote:
“U think u would have survived for long if not first ball ? Stop crying over these things mate..thought u would talk sense after ur playing days.. but few things never change u r the prime example of that. Always crying ?.”

Coming to that game, India had miraculously defeated Australia by 171 runs despite being asked to follow on. Australia recovered from Harbhajan Singh’s hat-trick to post 445 in the first innings. In reply, India were all out for only 171.
