India allrounder Hardik Pandya has finally opened up on the controversial comments he had made on chat show Koffee with Karan. At the start of 2019, both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul had landed in hot water for their controversial comments on the chat show. The comments were deemed sexist and misogynistic by many and the two cricketers soon faced repercussions.

Both Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were asked to return home from the Australia tour and were also suspended. Their World Cup participation was also in doubt but the BCCI ombudsman gave them a big respite by not suspending them. The ombudsman instead directed KL Rahul & Hardik Pandya to pay Rs 1,00,000 each to families of 10 constables in para-military forces who lost their lives on duty. He also directed the duo to pay s 10,00,000 in the fund created by Cricket Association for the blind for promotion of game for the blind.

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul made an impressive return to the game soon and did not take long to move on from the controversy. And almost a year after that incident, Hardik Pandya has finally spoken about it publicly. The star cricketer, who recently got engaged to Serbian actress Natasa Stankovic, opened up about the episode. He said that saying that since he was a cricketer, he had no idea about the consequences.

“We as cricketers did not know what was going to happen. The ball was not in my court, it was in some else’s court where they had to take the shot and that’s a very vulnerable place you don’t want to be,” Hardik told India Today.

The allrounder, meanwhile, is gearing up to return to action after recovering from a back injury that had sidelined him since the T20I series against South Africa. He is a part of the India A side for the tour of New Zealand.
